Repositories and Current Research Information Systems
DuraSpace and euroCRIS will co-host a one-day workshop to focus on interoperability and integrations between repositories and CRIS platforms during the Open Repository 2019 Conference in Hamburg, Germany - on Monday, June 10th, 2019.

In February 2017 DuraSpace and euroCRIS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the intent of working with the respective communities in order to share ideas and best practices on how repositories interoperate with CRIS platforms and to identify together the right technologies and standards to make this interoperability smoother and stronger. Both organizations promote a scholarly and research ecosystem much more integrated than it is today and CRIS systems and repositories are two important components of such an ecosystem.

One year ago, during the euroCRIS' CRIS2018 Conference we jointly organized a pre-conference event to explore relations between DSpace and CRIS systems. This year we are extending the conversation to all other repositories and software that are part of the DuraSpace community and beyond.

The workshop is organized in two different sessions:

Repository/CRIS Workshop (Session I): Realizing Technical Interoperability and/or Integration.
In the morning the focus will be on the technical challenges posed by the need to make repositories and CRIS systems interoperable or, in some cases, fully integrated. Several case studies on technical information exchange workflows will be presented from a platform-agnostic perspective, and a discussion will be held afterwards among the presenters, the workshop organizers and the event attendees. This session will be of particular interest for developers and research information management practitioners;

Repository/CRIS Workshop (Session II): Practical Applications for Interoperability and/or Integration.
In the afternoon we will explore the multiple applications of repository/CRIS platforms in areas like metadata management for publications and data, the provision of funding information across platforms or the introduction of a growing range of persistent identifiers. Same as for the first part, the session will include a number of case studies and will be followed by a discussion and a Q&A. This session will mainly be addressed at repository managers.

All participants will have a chance to get together and share their experience and use cases to the benefit of the whole community.

We encourage members of the repository and research information management communities to send their proposals submitting an abstract by April 30, 2018 using the form below. For more information about the workshop you can visit the OR 2019 Workshop webpages (https://or2019.blogs.uni-hamburg.de/workshops/) and for registration, please follow the main OR2019 Conference registration procedure at https://or2019.blogs.uni-hamburg.de/registration/
