About
SpARC Dance Festival, hosted by ArcTangent Dance, aims to amplify South Bay Area choreographers, dancers and artists. Making dance visible and available to our community is key. Included in the festival is a free, public dance class available to the community before the performance. If you are interested in teaching the mixed levels dance class, please indicate below in the application.

Who Should Apply: Professional level choreographers and dance groups/companies/ensembles. Special priority given to those who are either based in or originally from the South Bay. Emerging and mid career choreographers are strongly encouraged to apply!

Criteria for applying
  • Pieces should not exceed 8 minutes.
  • Any dance style is encouraged to apply!
  • What do we mean when we say the South Bay Area? We know this can mean something different to different people, especially when so many of us commute around the Bay and foster connections in many communities. For our festival, any cities or towns in Santa Clara County (i.e. Sunnyvale, Campbell, Milpitas) is a good way to think about it. Of course we love for our friends in Santa Cruz and the other 8 Bay Area counties to apply as well!
  • Special priority will be given to applicants who have a strong connection to the South Bay Area. This means either rehearsals based in Santa Clara County, trained, grew up, live or work in the area.
  • In your application, please be ready to share a video of your proposed piece and description of the piece (more details below).
  • Please have your application complete by May 30th, 2024. We will inform you by email in early to mid July of our decision.
What to Expect
  • Throughout the day, artists and vendors from the community will share their artwork in the lobby.
  • Tech rehearsal runs from 1:30-4pm. Tech rehearsal for each piece is 15 minutes.
  • From 4:30-5:30pm will be the public, free dance class for the community. Please encourage your dancers to take the class in order to warm-up and to build connections with other dancers and community members. Please let us know in the application if you are interested in teaching this class.
  • 6pm - Performers Meeting
  • 6:30-8:15pm - Dance Showcase
This is the inaugural iteration of our festival, so feedback on any part of this process is greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions, please email contact@arctangentdance.com.

Application due May 30th, 2024 at 11:59pm.
