Did you know Moreland Primary School community is considered to be in the wealthiest 8% of schools in the state?
About 10 years ago, the Department of Education declared our school to have a high socio-economic status. This means we are no longer considered a school with significant disadvantage and our funding from the State Government is at a standard rate with no additional funding to provide extras for our children's education.
This has meant that as a community we have had to fundraise in order for our kids to experience specialist classes like STEM, languages and the Arts. Fundraising as a school also allows us to access matching grants for programs such as the Merri Merri Creek-ulum program, the new library, and the nature play area.
The Moreland Primary School Parents & Carers Committee (PnC) was started 10 years ago to help boost the capabilities and communities within our school. The committee consists entirely of volunteers. In 2022 alone, the PnC's fundraising activities has contributed around $30,000 to the school’s budget to fund current and future experiences for our kids. We’ve also provided opportunities to connect families socially and strengthen our community.
