For centuries, Russification has denied the people of Ukraine of their achievements and their rightful identity. The independence of Ukraine is allowing Ukraine to reclaim its history and that of its people. The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation seeks to identify "30 Stars of Ukraine" who in the past thirty years of Ukraine's independence have made significant achievements in their field and thereby contributed to promoting Ukraine's image. This year's nominees must be citizens of Ukraine. Recipients will be selected by a committee organized by the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation. They will be recognized on December 16 at a special event of "Ukraine in Washington and Beyond" series dedicated to celebrating the people of Ukraine and their achievements.  

Please remember that this is not a contest or competition but a way to recognize Ukrainians who have contributed to Ukraine's image during these thirty years of independence.
