We are hopeful of circulating this survey to all St. James School families, both past and present. Please feel free to share the link with others who fit this description.
Background
This survey is being conducted on behalf of the St. James School Study Committee. This committee was initiated in 2021 by parishioners of both Our Lady of the Valley and St. James parishes, with the support of Fr. Peter, the permission of Bishop Joseph, and in collaboration with the principal of St. James School. The Committee's intent is to work on behalf of the parishes/diocese to ensure the longevity of Catholic Education in our community by discerning the need and possible options for a new building for what is now St. James School. It is their hope to build upon the legacy of Catholic Education provided by St. James School since 1956 so that there will continue to be Catholic Education in our community for the next 20 years and beyond. The committee recognizes that much effort has already been put into this matter by parishioners of the past and that by building upon their work a revitalized effort can be presented to all stakeholders in a reasonable amount of time and see this work completed and a vision for the future for Catholic Education in our community realized.
Purpose/Preamble
This survey will help inform the future location of Catholic Education in the North Okanagan.

Catholic schools are very important for many reasons. Catholic Education is the single most important evangelization tool in the Catholic Church. At Catholic schools children are taught about the truth and beauty of the Eucharist which is the source and summit of our faith. The Eucharist also teaches our students to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Catholic Education gives our children the wonderful goals of knowing, loving, and serving God so they can be happy with God in Heaven one day. Very importantly, it is through Catholic Education that our Church fosters vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Catholic Education teaches our children right living in these very confused times. It also gives Catholic children peers who are striving for the same Christian goals in life. Every subject taught in a Catholic school is Christ-centred. Catholic education is not an elitist form of education.

Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the life.”
