The Ankeny Klothing Exchange is a 501(c)(3) organization in Ankeny that accepts donations of clothing and small household goods from the community and surrounding areas. Those donations are in turn passed on to families facing hard times at no charge. TAKE strives to create a warm and welcoming community resource for clients and volunteers alike. From more nitty-gritty tasks, like sorting donations, hanging clothes, registering and assisting shoppers, to the more technical social media publicity, public outreach and fundraising, TAKE is entirely run by volunteers- we have no paid staff. Volunteers must be over 18 and agree to abide by all COVID precautions and other policies and procedures for uniformity of the operation. Volunteers are always encouraged to offer suggestions at any time for creating a more efficient operation and welcoming atmosphere for those we serve!

Upon receipt, our volunteer coordinator will contact you to arrange for an interview in person or by phone. All information on this form is kept confidential by the TAKE Board of Directors. Please note that your application does not guarantee acceptance as a TAKE volunteer immediately or in the future. Currently TAKE is open only 2 hours per day M-F and on the second Saturday of each month. Donations are being limited due to our storage capacity so there is not always sufficient work to accommodate more than three volunteers per day. TAKE occasionally has large retail donations to be collected and processed requiring additional work sessions as needed and sometimes larger groups of volunteers are needed at those times. Please note the many different ways volunteers are utilized at TAKE on the form below and let us know which opportunities interest you most.
