I want to join the Main Street Waterloo Design Council!
The Main Street Waterloo Design Council works to enhance the physical appearance of the downtown by rehabilitating historic buildings, encouraging supportive new construction, developing sensitive design management systems and long-term planning. As part of the Four Point Approach to Main Street revitalization, the Design Council:
  • Oversees all possible downtown design activity: maintenance, rehab, new construction, signage and public improvements.
  • Works with local design and construction professional to assure they understand proper treatment of old buildings.
  • Partners with city government to oversee local ordinances affecting downtown building activity.
  • Works with state and local preservation office.
  • Maintains downtown building inventory, in cooperation with the Economic Vitality Council
The Design Council meets the first Wednesday of the month at noon at the Main Street Waterloo office. As a Design Council member, you are expected to attend 75% of the meetings each year to maintain voting privileges.
