Farm-to-Food Sovereignty Academy. As part of
Project Teach22, and in collaboration with a growing number of farm and food partners in Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia, the Farm-to-Food Sovereignty Academy will equip you with the following skills:
Skills Gained:
- 🌿 Hands-on experience in small-scale regenerative farming and land stewardship.
- 🏗️ Knowledge in ecological building skills, particularly for farm infrastructure, cold storage, and season extension techniques.
- 🚛 Logistics expertise in food aggregation, distribution and transportation.
- 🍲 Food preparation and handling skills to contribute to a sustainable and equitable food system.
The Details
Academy stipends start at $16/hr at 15-20hrs/week for 12 weeks, with the opportunity for increased pay. Successful completion of the Academy is a pre-requisite for being able to apply to our forthcoming full-time Apprenticeship opportunities (as funding permits).
Teach22 prepares land stewards for living in a 22nd-century world, empowering Black folks with skills in all aspects of feeding ourselves including small-scale regenerative farming and land stewardship, ecological building skills (for farm infrastructure), logistics and food distribution, and food preparation. This academy is a perfect opportunity to cross-train in this comprehensive skillset that prepares you to contribute to food sovereignty and fill gaps in our local food system.
