For the first time this year we have state funds specifically designated to help with access to books for children 0-5 years old. It is more critical than ever that we make sure we can show that we are not just giving away books but ALSO connecting families to other resources. Can you commit to making sure that families who receive books from you complete the attached form, collecting it and making sure it is returned to us?

Partners who are already doing this successfully report using statements like the following:

"We'd love to get you connected to many other valuable resources for families with young children. All you have to do is fill out this form and you will also be entered into a contest to win a $25 gift card."

Encourage Families to sign up to win a $25 gift card and a bundle of books by filling out the Get Connected Form or scanning the QR code on the book. .

Invite parents to text 299-0182 to find out more about Local Parent Cafes, Play and learn Groups, and other resources.

Reminding them of the importance of reading and talking to children every day from birth to help them build the vocabulary they need to learn to read in Kindergarten. Children read to every day from birth have as many as 30,000 more words in their vocabulary than children who are not.

I can spend the time but need to know more about one or more of these items before I can share with families.
