You are invited to participate in a student research project at Marlborough School through the Leonetti/O’Connell Honors Research Program. The purpose of this research project is to better understand the role of music festivals in Moroccan society. This research project is being conducted by a student under the guidance of Marlborough Dean of Student Research Dr. Catherine Atwell and Marlborough Honors Research in Science Program Head Dr. Allison Ponzio, with additional mentoring assistance from Dr. Aomar Boum at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). You are invited to participate in this research project because you meet the criteria to participate.

PARTICIPATION
Your participation in this research study is voluntary. You may choose not to participate. If you do decide to participate in this research project, you may withdraw at any time. If you decide not to participate in this study or if you withdraw from participating at any time, you will not be penalized.

The procedure involves completing an online survey that will take approximately 30 minutes. Your responses will be kept confidential and we do not collect identifying data such as your name, email address or IP address, unless you provide your email to be contacted to participate in an interview on this topic.  However, non-identifying demographic information may be collected. The survey questions will be about your experiences attending or participating in music festivals as well as your opinions of festival sponsorship.  This includes questions about the government and its role in music festivals.

BENEFITS
You will receive no direct benefits from participating in this research study. However, your responses may help us learn more about how Moroccan youth view music festivals.

RISKS
The possible risks or discomforts of the study are minimal, but there is a risk that you may find some of the questions to be sensitive.

CONFIDENTIALITY
We will do our best to keep your information confidential. All data will be stored in a
password-protected electronic format. To help protect your confidentiality, the surveys will not contain information that will personally identify you. No one will be able to identify you or your answers, and no one will know whether or not you participated in the study. The results of this study will be used for scholarly purposes only and will be used to write a student research paper to be presented to Marlborough faculty, other students and research conference attendees.
