The Aspiring Mathematicians Programme (For Year 12 and 13 students of Maths and Further Maths)
This online course is taught by ULMaS Head of Outreach Niall Thompson, and is for Year 12 and 13 students. In particular, Year 12s planning to apply to study maths at university, and those whose applications will require the support of an admissions test such as the Oxford MAT, the TMUA, or STEP. The course is designed to place preparing for advanced testing which goes beyond the scope of A-Level material directly alongside the core curriculum, and questions and examples are chosen specifically to ensure that the material is accessible to students in Year 12 who are only encountering some of the topics for the first time. For that reason, the course is intended as a path into this type of preparation, and so will be of greater interest to Year 12 than 13. However, both year groups are welcome to attend and should find the content both challenging and enjoyable.

Running time TBC, but this will be discussed with anybody signed up to the course before it commences on week beginning 9th November. The course is open to anybody, but you will need to provide a contact email address for the school you attend so that we can check who you are and confirm your place.

There is no charge to take part in this course but priority will be given to students in state funded schools and colleges in the Liverpool City Region.

You will need:
- a quiet place to work at home or school
- a computer or tablet that can join a Zoom meeting (microphone and camera not necessary) [if this is a problem please apply anyway and we'll try to find a way to help]
- to be able to join our Google Classroom (you may need to use a personal Google account for this as your school account may not be able to join our classroom)
- the commitment and time to complete work set outside lessons
- pencil and paper

The course is open to Year 13 students in in Merseyside and the North West.  You will need to provide a contact email address for the school you attend so that we can check who you are and confirm your suitability for a place.  We will let your school know that you are taking part and may occasionally update them on your progress or contact them if we have any concerns.
