This will be an improvisation class. We will do some group scores inspired by the ‘Viewpoints /Mary Overlie, Lisa Nelson, or Nancy Stark Smith, combined with some somatic tuning for the body. The goal is to be playful, to surprise ourselves, to compose together, and inspire one another while moving. Working with a partner can support us to find new choices. Working with a group we benefit from multiple choices. We’ll talk about impulses regarding time and space when working with improvisation. We’ll check in to see what supports you. We will look at questions of how we can play with time and space in order to begin to compose and construct our improvisations in ways that are interesting for the stage. Hopefully we’ll have a bit of fun and move in ways that are freeing for the body.
