The goal of the STEM Tank Program is for students to increase their STEM workforce skills in critical thinking, problem solving and communication. An ongoing emphasis of this undertaking will be to increase the representation of students of color and women students in STEM programs. Another goal is to increase the number of students in STEM pathways at the College, particularly populations underrepresented in STEM fields, address workforce demand, and prepare students for economically-mobile, family-sustaining careers. As a participant you will be required to do the following:
- attend the kickoff meeting February 29th from 3:30pm - 4:30pm in person on Central Campus
- attend 4 workshops (from 3:30pm - 4:30pm) on March 14th, March 21st, March 28th, and April 4th in person on Central Campus
- work with a group of 3 - 5 students between February 29th - April 12th to develop a proposed solution to a community problem using all aspects of STEM. * 5-7 hours a week students will meet with groups at an agreeable time
- Present on April 12th from 11am - 2pm in person on Central Campus
- Community Service - April 19 or April 26
All participates will receive a stipend of $125 for full participation based on requirements above. In addition, there will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and this will be a great experience to put on your resume!!!
