Volunteer Shift Descriptions
Site Setup (AM) and Breakdown (PM) Volunteers | Site Team
Site Volunteers manage their zone by directing exhibitors to their assigned location, setup the zone area and assist with setup & breakdown of rental equipment.
Volunteer shifts are 2.5 hours.
Site Ambassador Volunteers | Site Team
Site Ambassador volunteers are representatives who distribute activity maps, direct people to activities, and answer participant questions. Tasks may also include working the Information Booth. You must be comfortable interacting with people. Volunteer shifts are 4 hours.
Parade Monitor Volunteers | Route & Safety Team
Parade Monitors help keep our event participants safe by acting as intersection monitors, cross guard duties and traffic control. that help organizers achieve programmatic goals for Black History Month and other community driven events. Volunteer shifts are 2.5 hours.
Will need to be able to stand for multiple hours and be comfortable interacting with the public.
Street Closure Setup Crew | Route & Safety Team
Set-up volunteers operate the street closure by placing barricades and signage along the route to block vehicle traffic. Volunteers are highly encouraged to have a bicycle to setup quickly. Once streets are closed, assist staff at the outreach booth. Volunteer shifts are 2.5 - 3.0 hours.
Breakdown Crew | Route & Safety Team
Breakdown volunteers help safely end the event by collecting no-stopping signs and event signage, moving barricades out of the street, and packing materials at the end of the day. Volunteers are highly encouraged to have a bicycle to quickly move along the parade route. Volunteer shifts are 2.5 hours.
