WELS Summer Band Camp Counselor Application
You are applying for a counseling position with the WELS Summer Band Camp. Please follow the instructions and fill out ALL areas needed for your desired position! APPLICATION IS DUE April 20th, 2022!

Camp dates are July 10-15th with a staff day on July 9th.

Your food & board is covered by camp. A small stipend may be issued if the budget and donations allow.

Junior Counseling Staff Qualifications and Responsibilities
Junior Counselor Qualifications:
- Must have completed sophomore year of high school
- Demonstrates appropriate Christian behavior at all times AND be a member in good standing in their church
- Is patient, enthusiastic and dependable
- Has the desire and ability to work with children
- Must have current experience playing an instrument in band and a great love of music

Junior Counselor Responsibilities:
- Follow all band camp rules while setting a positive example for campers
- Assist camp staff and senior counselors during camp activities and rehearsals
- Supervise and escort campers during activities, outings, rehearsals, meals, etc. as needed
- Participate in all camp activities
- Alert adult staff to any serious problems or situations
- Work as team member of the staff by willingly carrying out assigned and requested responsibilities including cleaning up, running campus errands, and checking rooms
- Will serve as a dorm room supervisor for 4-5 campers with the expectation that junior counselors help facilitate bedtimes and wake-up calls along with organizing shower schedules.
- Play along with campers in band rehearsals and concert
- Assist in sectionals
- Remember that the main priority are the campers (Do not get distracted by fellow staff members)
- May be asked to prepare and/or participate in a devotion with fellow counselors

Senior Counseling Staff Qualifications and Responsibilities
Senior Counselor Qualifications:
- Demonstrates appropriate Christian behavior at all times AND be a member in good standing in their church
-       Must have completed at least senior year of high school and preferably one year of college
- Is patient, enthusiastic and dependable
- Has the desire and ability to work with children and high school students
- Must have current experience playing an instrument in band and a great love of music

Senior Counselor Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates appropriate Christian behavior at all times AND be a member in good standing in their church
-       Follow all band camp rules while setting a positive example for campers
- Assist camp administrators and senior staff as needed during camp activities and rehearsals
- Supervise counselor group and create a fun, caring, safe group atmosphere
- Participate in all camp activities
- Alert adult staff to any serious problems or situations and serve as first level of go-to for our junior staff
- Work as team member of the staff by willingly carrying out assigned and requested responsibilities including responding to student needs, team-building among assigned high school counselors, etc.
- Play along with campers in band rehearsals and concert
- Lead/Assist in sectionals
- May be asked to prepare and/or participate in a devotion
