What is it all about?
Around 2% of all rivers in Austria are now only largely free-flowin. WWF is working together with local partner initiatives to protect these rivers. In recent years, Riverwalks have taken place across Europe, on rivers whose biodiversity has been threatened by various interventions. One such river is the Ötztaler Ache in Tyrol. It is to fall victim to the construction of a hydroelectric power plant, which will have a massive impact on the ecosystem there. Through the Riverwalk, we want to reawaken and strengthen awareness for the nature that surrounds us, as well as critically engage with the topic of hydropower. As a group of young people, we want to go in search of the untouched nature of the Ötztaler Ache. So be part of this search and create a box of countless nature experiences together with others! We look forward to receiving your application in order to spend an eventful time with you!
