As you are probably aware, the 2023-24 Huntsville High School Band has an invitation to attend the New Year's Day Parade in London, England.  We plan to accept this invitation as long as it is approved through the proper channels and we have enough people interested in traveling with us as part of the official Huntsville High School Band traveling party.


This is an early survey to find out how many people are interested in going.  We will not ask for a firm commitment until the Fall semester.  This survey is anonymous, so you are not bound to your decision - this is just for our planning purposes.   This survey should only be filled out once per student and by a parent/guardian.  For families with siblings in band, fill out twice, but only put family members interested in going on one survey so we don't double count them.  Students must be enrolled in a band class during the 23-24 school year to go on the trip.


Information on the trip (as presented at our booster meeting earlier this semester):

TIME FRAME:   Depart on/around December 27, 2023 and return on/around January 3.

PERFORMANCES:  It would include marching in the parade, a concert performance in a venue in London, and potentially other performances such as a BBC TV performance or other pep events around London.

WHO:  The trip is open to any student enrolled in a band class at Huntsville High School during the 2023-24 school year.  Our current  It is also open to any family member of these students to join us.

COST:  The potential cost for the trip is $3600 per traveler (student or family member) and is fairly inclusive including a travel insurance policy.  It notably does not include 1 meal per day and our group travel (bus) to/from the airport that we are departing from in the United States.   There is a "land only" option for a reduced cost for families (not individual students) that would like to use airline miles or will be coming from another destination since it's around the holidays.    Students and families will have plenty of opportunities to fundraise if they choose to.

Family members of students who choose to travel and make arrangements "on their own" will not have services and some opportunities like the city tours, traveling on our buses, organized event tours, and parade viewing perks as those traveling with the group.  We strongly encourage anyone who wants to go to travel within the group for this reason and to ensure we have enough in our traveling party to participate in the trip and keep costs down for everyone.   Students participating must arrange this trip as part of the Huntsville High School Band

PAYMENTS:  We would begin with payments for the trip in mid to late Fall semester of 2022.
