SGA Interest Form

SGA is our school social, cultural and community organization that will work together to make Newport Mill an amazing environment to learn and grow.

Elected classroom delegates will meet each ROAR Wednesday during period 1 (as long as they have no makeup work to complete). In these elected delegate meetings, we will:

- Discuss and formulate persuasive documents to bring to Ms. Butler and school leadership regarding school policies and practices that the student body wants to see implemented or changed

- Discuss and vote on programming for the upcoming month that our student community wants to be a part of

- Plan for ways to disseminate the information and bring it back to the student body (DUTY OF THE DELEGATE)

ANY STUDENT (elected or not) is welcome to support our SGA programming.

ROAR Wednesday's period 2-7 is an SGA workday. Students who have no work to make up or complete in their class may come to the MYP library (room 105) to work on the initiatives of that month during ANY of the periods on ROAR Wednesday pds 2-7 or after school (as long as there is an activity bus running). Working with SGA could be podcast writing, making posters, planning out big events, contacting vendors, designing promo videos, making decorations for events, posting signs and decorations etc.

Everyone who wants to work for the betterment of Newport Mill is WELCOME to participate in the workdays! Pick up a pass from Ms. Osborne in the MYP library (room 105 across from the gym) on Tuesday's if you plan to attend. You will need to confirm with your teacher before attending EACH PERIOD. Attendance from each period will be sent to teachers at the end of the day.

***School work will always take precedence over SGA meetings or worktime. ROAR Wednesday's are designed as catchup days. So as long as you are caught up, you can come pds 2-7. If you are unable to come during the school day, you can come after school on ROAR Wednesdays as well.***
