Northern Cambria School District
Northern Cambria School District - Educational Program Choice Options for the 2020-2021 School Year

The Northern Cambria School District will offer traditional face to face, synchronous, and virtual instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. To facilitate instruction through the instructional models outlined below and to comply with CDC safety precaution guidelines, each Northern Cambria School District student in grades K - 12 will be issued a Chromebook. In the event of a state mandated closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic the devices may be taken home to be used by the student in a synchronous remote learning environment.

The purpose of this form is for parents to indicate their child's learning option preference for the 2020-2021 academic year.   All district student families must submit this information for each registered student in grades K-12 by Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

Option 1:   Traditional face to face on-site learning with social distancing and safety recommendations in place.

The Northern Cambria School District highly recommends face to face on-site learning when possible as we believe this is the most effective and engaging form of instruction. However, we understand that all learners and their families may not be comfortable coming back to school at this time.

Two additional NCSD Learning Program Options are detailed below.

Option 2: Synchronous Learning via Google Classroom and Meet

In the synchronous learning scenario the student will be able and required to watch instruction conducted live in the classroom at home and complete assignments through google classroom.

All synchronous virtual learners will be on the same learning path as students in the building. Synchronous learners will be instructed by Northern Cambria School District teachers which will enable a seamless transition when the student moves back into the building.

The primary recommended mode of instructional delivery will be live synchronous instruction during the regular school day using google meet video conferencing and google classroom. Recorded instruction will also be posted the day following the students regular school day using Google Classroom.  The Northern Cambria School District highly recommends students attend the lessons live.  Assignments must be completed by the due date and assessments must be completed live.  In the event that an assessment cannot be completed live an alternate assessment may be given.

All teachers will be available live for office hours each day to enhance school/home communication during the week.

Grading will not be pass/fail. The traditional percentage grading scale will be used in the synchronous learning platform.

As with all virtual/cyber schools, attendance will be mandatory and violators subject to applicable school policies and regulations.

Option 3: Northern Cambria Cyber Academy

Students who enroll in the Northern Cambria Cyber academy, a completely online virtual cyber school, will be instructed by Pennsylvania certified teachers outside of the School District. More information about the Northern Cambria Cyber academy is available through the District website under the school's tab.

As with all virtual/cyber schools, attendance will be mandatory and violators subject to applicable school policies and regulations.
