We are gearing up
for the 12th Annual SAYS Summit College Day on Friday, May 19, 2023.
The annual SAYS Summit College Day is a program designed to
promote college awareness, college-going culture, and life preparation for all youths,
especially those who will be first-generation college students. SAYS Summit
College Day brings together hundreds of young people, teachers, college
students, and UC Davis staff from different regions, schools, and economic and
ethnic backgrounds to learn together and celebrate each other. At the Summit,
students receive a
preview into the college
experience, critical social justice workshops, empowerment tools, and mentorship from community leaders like yourself. Not to mention all the swag, food, and more! This unique
experience emboldens students’ horizons as they learn strategies to reach
higher.
This year, we
will be welcoming approximately 250 middle
and high school students
and we would be honored if you decided to serve as a
workshop facilitator.
We are looking for
folks that can lead two
workshops between 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. This will allow two/three different crews of students to
experience your lesson. For
your reference, please see the attached flyer and a past summit program.
This year’s theme
is "School is my Hustle.”
Based on the theme, workshops
should be rooted in helping youth learn and understand the ins and outs of
leadership, and provide tools, methods, and techniques that provide young people opportunities to thrive into
adulthood. We're
asking that all workshops are
focused on one of these themes: college readiness, home/money management, identity, life skills, health
and wellness, self-care, civic
engagement, creative arts, and/or artistic development.
If you believe you have something to give to our youth. Workshop proposal deadline EXTENDED, please
fill out by Friday, March 31, 2023.
