CWCA Travel Grants & Student Bursary
The Canadian Writing Centres Association (CWCA) is pleased to offer travel grants and a student bursary to conference attendees and presenters. CWCA thanks sponsors and donations for their contributions to these monetary awards.

Application deadline for both awards: March 15th, 2020
Notification of acceptance: April 1st, 2020

Grants and bursary will be distributed by cheque (CAD) at the conference.

TRAVEL GRANTS
The purpose of these grants is to enable conference presenters without adequate travel funding to attend the CWCA conference. CWCA will award five (5) travel grants in the amount of $400 CAD each.

Travel Grants will be awarded based on the following criteria:
- The budget is clear and demonstrates significant financial need.

Preference will be given to applicants who
- do not have sufficient professional development funds to attend the conference
- are presenting at the conference
- identify as being part of an underrepresented group
- are first-time attendees

To apply, complete the following questions.
1. Provide an itemized, estimated cost for you to attend the conference. Include costs associated with registration, lodging, travel, per diem (food costs), and presentation materials.
2. Describe the sources of funding that you have or will be applying for (e.g., institutional funding).
3. Describe the estimated shortfall in your available funding to attend the conference (max. 100 words).
4. Because the theme of this year's conference is focused on inclusion, access, and accessibility, we are also giving preference in the travel awards to presenters identifying with an underrepresented group, defined by the CWCA board as: racialized, LGBTQ+, person with a disability and/or mental illness, Indigenous, first generation. Do you identify as part of an underrepresented group?   (Yes/No)

GEORGIA LYONS STUDENT BURSARY
The purpose of the Georgia Lyons Student Bursary is to increase student participation at the CWCA conference by providing funds to supplement conference fees, travel, and accommodations. CWCA will award one (1) bursary up to a maximum of $250 CAD to a student at CWCA’s annual conference.

Eligibility
- Recipient must have been accepted to present at the CWCA conference at the time of application.
- Recipient must be (or have been) enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university at the time of application.
- Recipient must be in attendance at the annual CWCA conference in order to receive the award.
- Preference will be given to first time conference presenters.
