2024 APWA Internship Program- Employer Application
Thank you for your interest in the American Public Works Association San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter Summer Internship Program.  This Program is intended to promote Public Works Internships.  The goal of program is to support proper selection, placement and development of students or recent graduates from local universities and colleges.  This service was developed to encourage internships in Public Works by providing employers with: APWA recruitment efforts, a stipend to offset costs of employment, an applicant screening process, and recognition amongst peers for efforts to improve the prospects of employment for our local graduating students.

To make this program a success, we need the support of our partners for the following:
1) Commit to considering an intern candidate applying to our program. Minimum required employment for 8-weeks, beginning approximately May 20, 2024. A stipend will be offered to offset the hourly wages of the intern over the 8-week employment period.
2) Volunteer to conduct interviews in three (3) hour time blocks March 13th, 14th  & 15th (time blocks: 8AM -11AM, 11AM - 2PM, 2PM -5PM) and will be conducted virtually.
3) Volunteer to serve as a mentor to the selected interns throughout the duration of the summer internship program.

The purpose of this form is to solicit program participants and volunteers. Firms/agencies committing to hiring an intern through our program are not required to volunteer. However, participating firms/agencies that send a representative to assist with interviews will be given priority choice in candidates. Those helping with interviews are not required to serve as a mentor and vise versa.
