2022 VBS volunteers

Lots of volunteers are needed as we share God’s love with kids at VBS this summer! Your contributions, big and small, absolutely “make waves” and have an impact on the faith lives of kids and families at Our Redeemer.

VBS this year will be held from Monday, July 25 to Thursday, July 28, from 9:15am to noon. Adult and teen volunteers (completed 7th grade) are needed ahead of time to plan and decorate, during the event to lead stations and guide small groups of kids, and after the event to clean up.

Volunteer areas

Leaders and helpers are needed in the following areas. You can check multiple areas, indicating your order of preference in the comment section.

Crafts - prepare and teach crafts for various age groups using ideas from our curriculum

Games - lead outdoor games, using ideas from our curriculum

Music - teach songs and motions with the provided videos

Snack - prepare and serve snacks

Story helpers - assist in telling the daily Bible story and leading related discussion

Guides - accompany a group of 8-10 kids throughout the morning, sitting together in large group and walking to stations

Preschool leader - plan and lead activities upstairs for the youngest participants; the preschool program will not travel to stations, but will instead have their own activities

Preschool helper - assist with activities and preschool students upstairs

Large Group - help Pastor Kerri introduce/recap each day’s stories and songs

Tech - Run videos for opening/closing and music

Photographer - take pictures throughout the week for a slideshow and church publications

Registration - Greet families and help kids get checked in each morning.

First Aid - Be onsite during the week to administer TLC and bandaids; may help in other areas.

Nursery attendant - Provide care for children of volunteers who are under age 3.

Decorating - plan and create decorations for the sanctuary and narthex, to be installed the week of July 18.

Set-Up - help install decorations and general set-up the week of July 18

Thursday lunch - help organize and set up a celebration picnic lunch for families on Thursday, July 28

Volunteer information

Please plan to attend one Volunteer Orientation session, either Wednesday, June 1 at 7pm or Sunday, June 5 at 4pm.

All volunteers over age 18 must have PA child protection clearances (free, good for 5 years). If you have volunteer clearances through the public schools or other organizations, great! Please complete your clearances and get Pastor Kerri a copy by July 10; let Pastor Kerri know if you need assistance.
