Goals: The primary goal of this grant is to support the development of more equity in veterinary medicine by providing Black students and underrepresented groups with the funds to join organizations with opportunities for professional development, networking, mentorship, conferences, and community.
This grant will provide individual funding for up to $100 to approved applicants to join any professional veterinary organization of their choice that promotes diversity and inclusion. SAVMA members are required to fill out the application with a description of the organization they wish to join, why they will join it, cost of membership, and their ethnicity/underrepresented group. Examples of organizations that a member might join include the BlackDVM Network, the National Association for Black Veterinarians (NABV), Latinx Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA), Native American Veterinary Association (NAVA), Association of Asian Veterinary Medical Professionals (AAVMP), Veterinarians as One Inclusive Community for Empowerment (VOICE), Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association (MCVMA), Pride Student Veterinary Medical Community (PrideSVMC), Pride Veterinary Medical Community (PrideVMC), Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative (WVLDI), and others. Proof of membership and receipt is required, and may be in the form of a screenshot of registration, an email, or a picture.
Grant application will close by July 31st at 11:59pm EST.
