2019-2020 Peer Mentor Application Form
Applications are due May 10.

This program is open to any UNL student. The best candidates will be energetic and empathetic students who want to improve the international student experience and grow as young leaders on campus. You will need to have excellent time management skills, and a proven record of honoring your commitments.

- Hone your leadership and intercultural communication skills, and be able to leverage them in the professionally

Program Requirements:
- Attend a Peer Mentor evening training session
- June / July – send an introduction email to your mentee(s) and be available for general questions via email
- Attend the Peer Mentor Kick-Off Event in late August / September to meet your mentee(s) in person
- Help your mentee(s) with navigating the campus their first few weeks (give a tour, help them get to class, etc)
- Be knowledgeable of all campus resources, especially those for English Language Learning
- Consistent meetings with mentee(s): checking in at least once a week and face-to-face meetings twice a month
- Participate in mid and end of semester evaluations with Kaitlyn Waller and/or Chris Ebbers
- Once a semester, attend a large group celebration (possibly Rwandan Meal and Chinese Meal)
- Attend at least 2 (one per semester) leadership and communication development trainings

The most important requirements are having a positive attitude and being accountable to the program. Your mentees are counting on you to help them transition to Lincoln and UNL! Please submit this application by May 10.
