Starting out as a professional in Mental Health can be a daunting experience with questions like “do I have it in me?”, “how do I formulate cases?”, “what does it take to work with different populations?” or “how can I take care of myself in the process?”
We at Karma understand how it feels to have such essential questions unanswered, which lead us to curate a summer internship and training program exclusively designed for aspiring psychologists to gain an in-depth understanding of clinical disorders (for both the adult population & children) & to get acquainted with different therapeutic approaches based on different schools of thought & psychosocial realities.
This internship and training program utilises an amalgamation of different learning modalities and would focus on giving the participants a hands-on experience including field visits, research work, essays, movie analysis, case study discussions, role plays, etc. This training program will be facilitated by practicing Mental Health Professionals.
The program would span for a period of three months (May, June and July) with student batches running for every month. To make this program more accessible to aspiring psychologists it would be available across online, offline and hybrid platforms.
The following are some of the topics that will be covered in this program:
1. Introduction to Psychotherapy & Ethics
2. Disorder Series
3. HIV/STD Counselling
4. Contemporary Therapies
5. Queer Affirmative Therapy
6. Kink Affirmative Therapy
7. Therapy with Children
8. Role plays, activities and Case discussions
