This book celebration will feature chapter authors from "Navigating Difficult Moments in Teaching Diversity and Social Justice" (2020) co-edited by Kim Case, Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. We will model moving from pedagogical isolation to honest discussion of challenges educators face when teaching social justice. Three national guest speakers will discuss the real scenarios that inspired their chapters and share their reflections. Topics include white privilege in the classroom, when viewpoints become harmful speech, and keeping student hope alive.
Co-sponsored by the CTLE and Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies.
