I would like to extend the opportunity for you to participate in the District 7 Solo & Ensemble
MPA! This event takes place (tentatively) on Friday and Saturday Feb 11th – Feb 13th at location TBA. At this event, students participate in small-group musical performances such as trios, quartets, quintets or may perform a solo with piano accompaniment for feedback and a rating from a state certified judge. This event is the most beneficial “extra-curricular” event of the year!
All students wishing to participate must:
Pay a small assessment fee of $5.00 per event. Soloists will pay an additional fee to their accompanist unless they select an unaccompanied solo. If there is a piano part – it MUST be played.
Adequately prepare and follow through with their performance at the specified time.
Find a suitable solo from the FBA Solo & Ensemble List. You MUST play all parts listed in the score.
You can search the FBA S&E Music List here:
https://flmusiced.org/MPAOnline/MusicList/SEMusicList.aspxBand Students wishing to play a solo must:
Rehearse with their pianist at least once (twice if needed) unless solo is unaccompanied.
Pay their pianist an accompaniment fee (generally around $20-$40) to pay for both rehearsals and your
performance. Your accompanist is a professional musician and you are hiring them to perform with you.
Choose appropriate music from the FBA S&E List.
Provide their accompanist with the piano part.
Provide their judge with the ORIGINAL MUSIC/SCORE.
Recommended Accompanists (Students can sign up for their accompanist in class):
Mrs. Melody Mahusay $30 -
melodymahusay@gmail.comMrs. Linnea Norsworthy $20-$30 - 760-815-9855
Mrs. Wendy Roth - $20-$30 - 727-667-9389
Band students wishing to play in a combo/small group must:
Arrange who will be in their small group.
Meet at least once a week with all members present.
Have their own copy of their part to practice AS WELL AS the full score.
Choose music from the FBA S&E List.
I encourage every Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Percussion student to participate in this musical experience. This is a huge opportunity to gain independence on your instrument and learn more about it. You WILL become a better musician and you WILL have fun – regardless of the rating! You must return the bottom of this form and your $5.00 per entry fee by Friday December 1st, 2020.
