Court Watch support traditionally consists of Court Watch NYC volunteers “packing” the courtroom - bringing as many people wearing “Court Watch NYC” shirts as possible into the courtroom. The goal of court support (and CWNYC) is to shift the power in the courtroom and hold DAs and judges accountable. We hope that our presence will put pressure on prosecutors and judges who know they are being watched.
By filling out this form, you are agreeing to having this request emailed to our list of volunteers with court watching experience. We will respond to you with a draft of the email we plan to send for your approval before we send it out. If you would like, we can also promote the support request on our social media to encourage others to pack the court - please indicate this in the last response box below.
We currently cannot honor requests outside of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx (e.g. Staten Island, Long Island). We hope to expand to Staten Island in the near future, but due to not having historically trained volunteers outside Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens & the Bronx, we do not have the capacity to send volunteers there at this time.
We unfortunately cannot guarantee any number of volunteers attending. In the past we have had between 0 and 20 volunteers show up to court support requests.
