Synthetic Imaginaries: The Cultural Politics of Generative AI is an international event that will explore the cultural, political, and methodological dimensions of generative AI and synthetic media through a combination of conference talks, hands-on workshops, and collaborative projects. Topics include deepfakes, avatars, cultural biases in training data, feminist and postcolonial critiques, and the aesthetics of AI-generated content.

Call for Submissions
Participants are invited to submit a short abstract (maximum 500 words) outlining how their work relates to the eventās theme. Presentations should raise questions or provocations rather than present finished research. Accepted abstracts will be grouped into thematic sessions and discussed in a collaborative, dialogue-focused format.
Submit your proposal by 20 June 2025.
Notification of acceptance by July 15 2025.
Registration by August 1 2025.
Participation is free of charge. Limited travel support awarded by the NFDI4Culture consortium is available for early-career researchers and PhD students (see details below).
