Black Community Support Fund (BCSF) Steering Committee Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the One Albuquerque Fund’s Black Community Support Initiative Public Steering Committee.
One Albuquerque Fund is a community collaborative working towards policy and systems change. The mission of the One Albuquerque Fund is to connect the community, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to come together to support the people of our city, especially in a time of crisis.
The One Albuquerque Fund deeply values and is committed to diversity. We honor the differences among us, knowing those differences strengthen and enhance not only our experience but our community as well.
Responsibilities of the Steering Committee:
- Responsible for the implementation of the Black Community Support Fund (BCSF).
- The Steering Committee is charged with setting the direction for or making a new policy for the One Albuquerque. The final decision making body of the Collaborative for items including, but not limited to: assess community needs, develop strategies for investment, develop criteria for funding, develop metrics for tracking, identify local organizations that can take action, selecting new Steering Committee members, and changes to the mission or vision statements.
Terms & Time Commitments:
- The Steering Committee meets once a week for six weeks and 1-2 times a month after that.
Role of Steering Committee:
- Leadership in this steering committee intentionally involves power-sharing, not power dominance; The governance model of this steering committee involves a 5-10 member Steering Committee that serves as the final decision-making body of BCSF and provides oversight of all these steering committee operations.
- Each organizational member of the Steering Committee has one vote.
- The Steering Committee uses a written consensus protocol for decision-making.
- Be accountable for creating clarity and transparency for the collaborative goals and processes.
- Ensure that the black community has access and are engaged.
- Ensure that the collaborative offers opportunities for the black community and all community members who want to be involved.
- Ensure that organizational representative collaborative members receive training/guidance on community engagement.
- Uphold this steering committee decision-making process and operating protocols.
