YLWF 2020 Participant Application Form (due June 10th)

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
We appreciate your interest in the program amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We are doing everything to ensure participants' safety. We have rescheduled Young Leaders for Wild Florida to run from July 20th to 31st, and will keep you updated as the situation evolves.

To offset potentially lost income from a summer job, we offer a $250 stipend to all accepted students who are eligible for free and reduced lunch. Just check the box in the form.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are excited that you are interested in 2 weeks of adventure, service, learning and leadership in wild Florida! This is an Alachua Conservation Trust program and we will be using ACT's facilities, lands, staff, supervision, and expertise (https://www.alachuaconservationtrust.org/young-leaders-for-wild-florida).

Application information:

All youth between the ages of 16 to 19 living or studying in Alachua County are encouraged to apply.

This application includes two short essays. Don't worry, these do not need to be formal, they will be used to give us sense of what you care about.

Applications are on a rolling basis. The earlier your application, the more likely you are to get a spot. You can expect to hear back within two weeks of applying. If accepted, we will send you an email with further information on confirming your enrollment. Please note that spots are limited, and students who apply earlier will receive preference. As we have limited spots available, we may have to put some students on a waitlist

Basic information:
The core program runs from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 31.

"Next Steps" is an optional third week of our program from Monday August 3rd - Friday August 7th. It offers participants the opportunity to take the next steps in environmental leadership through more in-depth outdoor service and environmental advocacy projects with your peers as well as alumni from last year's program (and we'll still have fun outdoor adventures!).

Young Leaders for Wild Florida is a entirely donation-based program-- we don't want finances to prevent your participation in the program. We encourage a minimum donation of $30 (our costs are around $300 per participant)
