AQ Community Engagement - Faculty
If you would like your Fall 2023 classes to engage with community organizations (non-profits, for-profits, government, etc.) please let us know! If you already have connections, great! We would like to track those relationships. Need help brainstorming or connecting with one of our community partners? The AQ Advantage Center is here to support you. In both instances, students should be recording their experiential learning in Handshake. We will reach out to you with more information.

Different types of off-campus community engagement might look like:

Academic Based Community Engagement
  • One time or ongoing throughout semester
  • 3-10 hours per week/engagement
  • Meaningful, valuable work that connects to larger concepts covered in class
  • Reflection & Articulation integral to the process
  • Priority on meeting community need rather than fulfilling requirements for students
Community-Based Class Project
  • Students, under supervision of faculty member, would complete project within semester timeline
  • Projects could range from accounting, social media, data, research, writing, outreach, marketing, lab work, public art, etc.
  • Faculty member will work directly with community partner
