We cannot thank you enough for your interest in volunteering at a retreat this year. Our volunteers are the backbone of the organization and we couldn't do what we do without you!
We have three different volunteer opportunities at each retreat: fishing lead, logistics lead and fishing volunteers.
The fishing lead plays an important role in managing the fishing aspects of the retreat such as scouting the river, matching volunteers with participants, etc. Fishing leads need to have a high level of fishing experience and knowledge.
The logistics lead, as the title suggests, manages the logistics for the retreat. The logistics lead does need to spend a couple of hours during the week leading up to the retreat to organize gear, purchase food, etc. Training and guidance is provided for first timers.
Fishing volunteers work directly with one or two participants to provide guidance and instruction. They provide a critical service as they ensure that regardless of fishing level, participants have a great experience. Fishing volunteers need to have enough knowledge and skill to teach first time anglers.
This year we will have have one fishing lead, one logistics lead and five fishing volunteers on each retreat. Once again fishing volunteers will work with one, but more likely two, participants on the water (this is a change from retreats of the past).
Once you fill out this application your attendance will be confirmed if we have the space for the retreat/s you choose. It is absolutely critical that once your attendance is confirmed that you fully commit to attending so be sure to check for conflicts or potential conflicts. We will get final confirmation 30 days out from the retreat just in case something unexpected came up.
A virtual training is required for all volunteers and takes place roughly 60 days out from the retreat. Additional details regarding this training, logistics for the retreat, etc. will be sent ahead of time.
Thanks again for your interest in being a part of another amazing FTGF retreat season!
