Deadline for Submission of Interest: 15 March 2024
Event Date: 13 May 2024, Montréal, Quebec
Theme: Rising Tides: Measuring climate impacts on the health and rights of communities in crisis
Through this highly practical event, attendees will explore the tools, methodologies, and indicators required to effectively measure the multifaceted impacts of climate-related challenges on the health and rights of communities in crisis - particularly women and girls. Attendees will leave this one-day summit with a deeper understanding of the nuanced intersections between climate change, health disparities, and gender equality. Using a peer-learning approach where participants share their innovative solutions and ongoing challenges, attendees will be better equipped to integrate climate-inclusive measurement approaches that ultimately lead to more resilient and equitable responses in the wake of climate-induced crises. All participants are expected to prepare and share a radically candid presentation of successes and challenges towards reaching and measuring results and impact, and steps taken towards mitigating/resolving those challenges.
To foster an intimate learning environment, and given the sensitive nature of the projects being discussed, only those involved in presenting will be in attendance. Public registration will not be available for this event, and at least one team member is required to attend in person, although virtual participation for some project members will be possible. Broader conversations on this topic will continue as part of the public Healthy World Conference, which is taking place immediately after the summit (May 14-15), and summit participants are strongly encouraged to attend the conference as well.
Please note:
- Submitted projects/approaches should ultimately aim to advance health and rights.
- Submitted projects/approaches may be at any stage of delivery, or part of a larger portfolio of work. Programming should either be currently underway, or else have been implemented in the recent past.
- Submitted projects/approaches should have a Canadian connection (for example, a Canadian partner or funder is involved).
- Submitted projects/approaches must be measuring both gender and environment/climate impacts as part of their monitoring and evaluation processes.
