Plymouth Octopus: Investigation into collaboration survey.

Plymouth Octopus (POP) have commissioned Take A Part to deliver a creative investigation exploring collaboration. We would like to understand how organisations and groups in our network, and across Plymouth in general, use collaboration as part of their work, what their relationships to working together are and even how they define ‘collaboration’.

The learning from this project will help POP support organisations in the future, leverage new funding and provide insights that can be shared around the network. We’d love for you to join us in this project by taking part in this survey, and hopefully further conversations. All types of organisations and community groups working in Plymouth are invited to take part, you do not have to be a POP member.

This survey is the first part of that investigation; it will help us get some broad answers to some of our questions and will be the starting point for further conversations. It may even help us identify some new questions.

Following the survey we will be inviting some of the participants to join us for some creative sessions with local artists which will give us a chance to talk about the topic in more detail. These sessions include print-making with Caroline Wilkins, preserving and making food with Jar Squad and some fun activities with Far Flung Dance Company. We will also invite a small number of participants to have longer conversations with us so we can tell your stories in more detail. You can find out more about these sessions, including dates, at the end of this survey.

You can opt in or out of these follow up sessions below.

What to expect from this survey

We have tried out best to keep this survey as simple and quick as possible.

In the first section we are asking for some details about your organisation or group.

We will then ask six open questions about your experiences of and relationship to collaboration. We’d love you to answer these in your own words, with as much detail as you feel able to share. We will ask for three memorable examples of collaboration

The survey should take no more than 20 minutes.

If you are logged in with a Google Account, your answers will be automatically saved for 30 days. You will be able to leave this session and come back and answer later.

Soon afterwards we will invite you to join us at one of our creative sessions where we will have an opportunity to expand on some of these questions, or other topics that might have come from the survey results. We may also invite you for a follow up conversation to share your stories of collaboration in more detail.

What will happen to the results of this research?

After we have analysed the responses and process, our aim is to create a set of simple and accessible assets. This might include narrative reports, infographics, storytelling and film.

The outcomes of this investigation may also be referenced in an academic study by University of Plymouth researchers.
