Dear participants,
You have been asked to participate in this study because you are a parent over 18 years old and your nationality is Greek.

It will take less than 10 minutes to complete the demographic information and the questionnaires with total 72 short questions. You will only need to rate them from 1 to 4. The present study aims to investigate parenting styles across generations.Also, in this research it is going to be explored which are the two main parenting style in Greek population. Based on the demographic information of parent’s gender, it will also be explored which parent (mother or father) is more loving to their children.

The questionnaires will be completed via google forms. The first one is Adult-Parental Acceptance – Rejection Questionnaire (Rohner, 2005), which refers to 48 parent’s memories from the way that they raised you. The other one: Parent- Parental Acceptance- Rejection Questionnaire (Kholeque & Rohner, 2002), refers to the way that you are raising or raised your children. Both questionnaires, have the same questions, but the first 48 are refers to the past and the other 24 to the present.

After studying the written instructions for each section, answer freely the first option that comes to your mind, so that the answers contribute to the validity.  

Anonymity and confidentiality of data: Any information that you give me will be treated in the strictest confidence and the only person who will be able to read your data will be myself, and my supervisor(s). Moreover, please note that this study is anonymous and, as such, your name will not be included in any further analysis. Your participation in this research is voluntary and you are free to withdraw from the study at any time (including while the study is still going on and data are still being collected), in which case your data will be immediately deleted from our database, until May 5, 2023. After that date,  the data will be used. I will store any information on a password protected personal computer while I will destroy any information given on a hardcopy in ten years from now (this is a standard period of time after which I will have to delete any data in line with University guidelines).

Please note that:

Potential distress and discomfort may be caused when completing the A PARQ questionnaire, because in this part you will need to recall your child memories and some of them may be painful or stressful.

If you start feeling distress or discomfort, take deep breaths for a few minutes, before you continue to complete the questionnaire. If you are still feeling unwell, you can stop the questionnaire and not continue with this study — you may seek professional counseling with your therapist, or contact a public mental help center near you. The Public Center for Mental Health in Pagkratis (Ymmitou 221 & Ferekidou 1) can be off assistance, the hotline is 210 751 9550.
