One of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic was working from home, which became common not only domestically but also across borders. However, this can also have an unpleasant side effect: under current legislation, both personal income tax and social security contributions can be transferred, in whole or in part, to another country. It is easy to see that the different tax rates in each country, as well as the tax return obligation in several countries, can be cause significant costs for both the employer and the employee, which can be further increased by penalties for non-compliance.
