Workshop "Economics of climate-related extreme events"
November 9th, 2022

Sala del Consiglio - Via Aurelio Saffi 42 - Department of Economics, Society, Politics (DESP) - University of Urbino

12.30-17-30 (CET)

Climate change (CC) represents a central challenge for sustainable development. It has been scientifically proven and internationally emphasised (IPCC IR6), that CC has consistently influenced weather and climate extremes by generating an increase, both in frequency and intensity, of natural events such as extreme floods and heat waves. Knowing these events, their trend and their consequences on the territory, population, infrastructures, economic activities and society in general is fundamental for the definition of national and sub-national (regional, provincial, municipal) public policies and adaptation strategies. The workshop aims at pooling the research activities on the topic developed by the keynote speakers Prof. Robert J. Elliott (University of Birmingham), Prof. Eric Strobl (Universität Bern) in collaboration with the lecturers from the Departments of Economics, Society, Politics (DESP) of the University of Urbino Carlo Bo.
