The Canadian Council for Youth Prosperity's Youth Council is a group of 13 youth from all over Canada who are interested in creating meaningful opportunities for youth and highlighting the youth experience. Through discussion and collaboration, the CCYP Youth Council seeks to create an inclusive and diverse space where youth can share their lived experiences interacting with the workforce development networkWe are part of a collective movement that encourages and supports youth to get involved in creating change for generations to come.

The CCYP Youth Council wants to honour young people living in Canada who have positively changed Canada's youth workforce network. Canada's Youth Prosperity Awards celebrates the remarkable contributions of 12 individuals between the ages of 18-30 who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing youth prosperity in Canada.

The Youth Workforce Network is a web of relationships and interdependence between major stakeholders, including employers, service providers, government, education providers, community-based organizations, and youth who interact by participating in shared activities, consume products, services or focuses, and they all have a similar vested interest in developing, creating and improving youth employment. Network partners have different missions and thus have unique opportunities to support young workers.

Award Eligibility Criteria:

  • Contributed positively to Canada's youth workforce network or youth prosperity more broadly. This work can be done through employment, volunteering or other experiences.
  • Resides in Canada.
  • Be between the ages of 18-29 as of June 30, 2023.

We will be evaluating nominations against the following criteria:

  • Impact: The extent to which the nominee's contributions have made a significant impact to the youth workforce network.
  • Leadership: The nominee's demonstration of exceptional leadership.*
  • Sustainability: The nominee's efforts demonstrate potential for continued success and/or growth in the future.
  • Collaboration: The extent to which the nominee has fostered teamwork and/or engaged with stakeholders to achieve their goals.
  • Originality and Creativity: The degree of innovation and creativity displayed by the nominee in their approach to addressing youth-related challenges and fostering prosperity.
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility: The nominee's commitment to integrating equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in their work and lived experience.
* We recognize that leadership does not only exist in a formal role but is rather a characteristic that individuals embody irrespective of titles and responsibilities. We highly encourage nominations of youth who are non-traditional leaders.

The selection process will be completed by the CCYP Youth Council who will carefully assess nominations for the above criteria. The selection panel will strive to award 12 winners who represent the diversity of Canada's geography (e.g., rural areas, Western Canada, Atlantic Canada, territories).

Self-nominations are accepted. Numerous nominations for the same individual will be assessed. However, more than one nomination will not increase the nominee's chance of being selected for an award.
