Background information
In attempts to "humanize" the power of the atom in order to harness the ability to use it for peaceful power, corporate America began the "Atoms for Peace" campaign. Although this video dates to before 1957, it was one of the main visual representations of nuclear energy, and was seen by over seven million people in its first two years - it won multiple grand film festival awards, including an Oscar.

Background Information
This is a picture of the second atomic bombing of Japan in Nagasaki. The pilots were famously instructed to capture the photo after dropping the bomb and immediately changing their flight course in order to avoid damage from the mushroom cloud ensuing the explosion.
