The Police Accountability Board Alliance ("the Alliance") was formed in 2017 by the Police Accountability Board Organizing Committee.

The purpose of the Alliance is to nominate Rochester community members to the Rochester Police Accountability Board (Bylaws, Article 1).

1. Represent the interests of civilians by nominating city of Rochester residents to the Police Accountability Board (PAB).
2. Educate the public about the PAB, and the issues surrounding the establishment of the PAB, such as police misconduct
3. Act in the interests of the community, as it sees fit, in order to advance the mission and vision of the PAB through different forms of advocacy and communication.

Organizations and individuals interested in joining the Alliance must be nominated by an existing Alliance member organization and must receive a two-thirds majority vote by the Alliance to be approved as new members. New Alliance member organizations are expected to:

● Read the Bylaws of the Alliance.
● Read the Police Accountability Ordinance.
● Participate in the process to seek out City of Rochester residents who represent the diversity of Rochester and nominate them to serve on the PAB.

There are two types of Alliance members:

Voting Members
○ Attend meetings at least quarterly. Organizations should select two voting representatives to serve on the Alliance.
○ Commit your organization to remain an active participant in the Alliance to ensure the success of the Police Accountability Board’s goal of accountability and transparency.
○ Employees of the Rochester Police Department are barred from joining the Alliance.
○ Every two years sign a letter of commitment.

Supporting  Members
○ Do not need to file a Letter of Commitment
○ Do not have voting rights
○ May participate the Alliance committees, activities, events, and non-voting matters
