Calallen Drive: Redbird Lane to Burning Tree Lane Public Comment Form

The existing street is a low-volume residential rural section constructed in the early 1950’s.  The roadway consists of approximately 20’ wide asphalt pavement with no shoulders, no curb or gutter, limited segments of sidewalk, and limited shallow roadside swales. The scope of the proposed Street construction for Calallen Drive from Redbird Lane to Burning Tree with Utility Improvements are as follows:

1. The proposed Street will be designed to include 2 bid options. Base Bid Option 1 will include a flexible pavement section of 2” Type D HMAC, 6” Crushed Limestone Base, and 8” Lime Compacted Subgrade. Base Bid Option 2 will include a jointed concrete pavement section with 6” of Jointed Reinforced Concrete and 10” of Lime Stabilized Compacted Subgrade.

2. Construction of ADA-compliant 5’ sidewalks on both sides of the roadway replacing the existing 4’ sidewalk.

3. Construction of ADA curb ramps on Calallen Drive at the following intersections: West Redbird, River Forest, and West Buckhorn.

4.  Replacement and addition of new storm water manholes and curb inlets, replacing the existing storm pipes, and drainage swale regrading for positive drainage.

5. Replacement and installation of new water and placement of new fire hydrants.

6. Replacement of the existing wastewater line and rehabilitation of existing brick wastewater manholes with new fiberglass linings.

7. Minor adjustments to the current gas lines.
