2020-2021 SGA Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming involved in the Student Government Association for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Student Government Association meets on Wednesdays at 12:30 pm during the Fall and Spring semesters starting on September 30th, 2020.

The SGA is composed of the Senate Board, the Judiciary Board, and the Student Activities Board. Being a part of SGA is a wonderful opportunity in which you can make new friends, become a student leader at this college, and have fun! It will also entail hard work, but whose results will be rewarding in the end!

The Senate is where legislation is drafted, debated, and voted upon. It is composed of four committees: the Academic Affairs Committee, the Diversity Committee, the Public Relations Committee, and the College Affairs Committee.

In order to participate as a Senator on the Senate Board, you must be in good social and academic standing with at least a 2.2 GPA.

The Judiciary Board is the student voice in issues that come up regarding Student Conduct and Public Safety. They also engage in values-based programming.

In order to participate as a Justice on the Judiciary Board, you must also have at least a  2.2 GPA. If you would like to participate in the Hearing Boards, you must have at least a 2.8 GPA.  

The Student Activities Board (SAB) plans and leads programs and events for students at the college.

In order to participate in the Student Activities Board (SAB), you have to be in Good Standing with the college.

New students are waived from these requirements for their first semester. By submitting this application, you are consenting to an academic and conduct record check.

As a member of SGA, your days will be filled with excitement, while your responsibilities will be constantly transforming, as you conduct important research, collect data from student surveys, draft impactful legislation, interact with students and faculty, and work towards improving Bergen Community College.
