2022-23 IRHF Delegate Registration
Thank you for your interest in the 2022-23 Independent Regional Heritage Fair (IRHF), brought to you by the BC Heritage Fairs Society.

Queries may be directed to coordinator@bcheritagefairs.ca

What is the IRHF?
The IRHF is a regional-level, virtual Heritage Fair organized by the BC Heritage Fairs Society in order to enable even more students to participate in the Heritage Fairs program from anywhere in BC. The IRHF is an official pre-qualifier for delegates to be selected to attend the BC Provincial Heritage Fair.

When is the IRHF?
The IRHF will occur in mid May 2023 over Zoom (between May 15 and 20): exact dates and times will be announced after registration closes (on April 1), no later than April 15, 2023.

How will the IRHF work?
The IRHF will be held virtually on Zoom. Students will present their Heritage Fair projects to a panel of judges, who will then select students to advance to the Provincial Heritage Fair that same year.

Who is eligible to be an IRHF delegate?
In order to ensure there are no conflicts with existing Regional Heritage Fairs, a prospective delegate's region must NOT be hosting a Regional Heritage Fair that year. Delegates must be between Grade 4 and 10 (inclusive) during the 2022-23 academic year.

Delegates may participate in the IRHF through one of two streams:
  • INDEPENDENTLY: prospective delegates must have created a Heritage Fair project on their own, and their class or school should not have a Fair program (i.e. a student who is not selected by their school to advance to the Regional level cannot submit independently)
  • SCHOOL / CLASSROOM SPONSORED: their school or class selected that student to advance to the Regional Heritage Fair
Irrespective of stream of entry, students will compete against others in the same region (i.e. all Vancouver students compete against each other, while all Kamloops students compete against each other).

What is the cost of participation?
  • Delegates may register at no cost
  • Costs involved with creating the Heritage Fair project are the responsibility of the delegate
  • If a delegate is experiencing financial difficulties or would be unable to access a device to present their IRHF project, kindly reach out to coordinator@bcheritagefairs.ca so that we can discuss accommodation
To register: fill out this form no later than April 1st, 2023 at 5 pm PST.

Preferred presentation format *
This year's Provincial Heritage Fair will welcome both traditional (tri-fold poster displays), digital, or hybrid presentations. However, delegates will be responsible for supplying all materials and digital hardware required of their presentation.

For instance, if you are doing a PowerPoint presentation, you are responsible for bringing your laptop or tablet to the Provincial Heritage Fair showcase. Conversely, if you are doing a traditional tri-fold, you will be required to submit your project files in a digital format (such as through a PDF file, and photographs of your display pieces) for the judging panel to review your work at the IRHF.

Project submission details will be communicated with delegates after registration.
Please let us know if you will have any conflicts of schedule between May 15th and 20th, 2023 (the tentative IRHF dates).
We will do our best to accommodate your schedule preferences, but this may not always be possible.
Do you require accommodation?
Please let us know how to make your experience as an IRHF delegate the most comfortable.
