St. Louis County Youth Advisory Council D7 Application
Bill 131 in 2021 created the St. Louis County Youth Advisory Council. The YAC was established to advise the Department of Human Services, the Department of Public Health, the Department of Police and other county departments on matters of concern and importance to youth in St. Louis County. Specifically they shall:
(a) consider and advise the aforementioned officers, County departments and offices on issues impacting the youth in the County, either upon its own motion or at the request of such an officer, department or office;
(b) identify and make recommendations regarding programs and services that are needed for youth in the community;
(c) make recommendations to the County Council regarding development of a youth-based program to increase civic participation among young people, including promoting voter registration, advocacy, and leadership.
Members may be nominated by their county council representative, and shall be appointed by the County Executive. They will begin meeting by September 1st and hold a minimum of eight (8) meetings. They are required to submit an annual report on their activities and recommendations to the County Executive and the County Council no later than February 15th. Members will be compensated $600.
