Community Survey about EUU Retreat Grants

We (Tony Zamparutti, Sharon Marshall, Shulamit Levine-Helleman and Karen Kyker) are a task force created by the Coordinating Council (CC) in the spring of 2023 to investigate the effectiveness of our EUU Grant process.

We want to 1) let you know about some ideas that we have been discussing about retreat grants and 2) get a sense of what our community is thinking about retreat grants/subsidies.

Some of the questions below might surprise you! Read on, please...

Your responses will help us (all of us in the EUU community) prepare for our upcoming discussions at our CC meeting and the wider EUU Town-hall discussion on this subject in the fall, as we exert ourselves to ensure that our EUU retreats are accessible to everyone who wishes to participate.

Note: This poll is entirely anonymous unless you explicitly give your name at the end. Your email address is shown immediately below this line, but it is NOT collected in the results of this survey.

Regarding the retreat grant PROCESS:  Which of the following should exist?
Regarding the financing of retreat grants, current practice is that retreat grants are covered by voluntary contributions to the EUU retreat grant fund. Retreat expenses are almost entirely apart from the General budget.

A variety of models of Paying for Retreats have recently been suggested.  Current practice is to establish a budget based on a target number of participants and set an appropriate cost for different categories of attendees, with lower fees for children, teenagers and young adults. People then ask for grants if they need them.

Which of the following alternative models do you think should be discussed further?
Any additional thoughts you would like to share?
Optional: If you like, you can share your name and contact information here.
Please plan to join us at a special Town Hall Meeting on Monday, October 9 at 7 p.m. CEST, to discuss retreats and our retreat grants policy and processes. An email was sent from EUU on Sept 3 with the Zoom link for the Oct. 9 meeting. We're looking forward to hearing more from you at that meeting!
