WHAT IS TITLE IX?

Title IX is a Federal law that specifies what employees and students can do when they experience or witness sexual misconduct, coercion, assault, cyber-stalking, retaliation and/or discrimination based on gender.A student who has experienced a case of gender aggression has the right to decide to whom and when to talk  about what happened. Each campus has a Title IX Coordinator who can assist them through the reporting process. The organizers of this event can facilitate connecting them with a Title IX coordinator.

If you are an employee of the District and would like to report a case of gender-based harassment to the District, we encourage you to consult your union rep (AFT, CSEA, or AFSCME) for further help and representation.

All SMCCCD faculty and staff members as well as administrators who learn of suspected instances of discrimination, harassment, or sexual misconduct, directly or indirectly experienced by a student, have a duty to report the information immediately to the Title IX Coordinator at their campus. The organizers of this event may contact you if we deem that reporting is necessary.
