Bodies That Matter Application
This form is meant to provide some reflection and insight into your participation in Bodies That Matter, an ongoing somatic practice space for trans and nonbinary folks to come to our bodies, move towards our longings, and live life from the inside out.

Please take some time to meaningfully answer the questions, but please know that I am not looking for novels. There is nothing to prove here. I just want to know how awesome you are and to make sure that this is the right space for you.

We accept members on a seasonal basis in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter as space becomes available. Membership is capped to ensure the integrity of our practice community. We are in a commitment to at least 1/3 BIPOC membership and uplifting trans femme membership.

If we are unable to accept you into this practice season, you will be notified and placed on a waitlist for next season. You will be the first to know about any openings! If you have any questions please feel free to email me at b@haveheartsomatics.com

Name and Pronouns *
Bodies that Matter is an entirely online practice space, that's open to folks anywhere. Where are you located? *
What has you interested in Bodies That Matter? What are you hoping to transform through your participation? *
How do you identify in terms of race, class, gender, size, sexuality, etc? What communities are you a part of? *
What has your relationship to your body been like in the past? What is it now? *
As trans and nonbinary folks, we have often learned less than choiceful ways to survive inside of this world that can sometimes influence our relationship to food and movement/exercise. This has an impact on our capacity to live inside of our bodies. What would you like to name around your relationship to food and movement? What about your relationship to dieting and diet culture? *
What feels important to name about your experience of gender? What do you know about your relationship to body and gender? *
What has your healing work looked like up to this point? How much intentional healing have you done? Do you have experience with somatics or embodiment practices? (not a requirement at all, just good to know!) *
What is your support system like? How supported do you feel? This may include people, pets, spiritual, religious or embodied practices, meds/supplements, etc. *
How are you in groups? What kind of positive feedback do you get from others in groups? What about negative? How do you take feedback when you receive it? What edges do you anticipate bumping up against in this space? *
Do you have any access needs that I should know about? What helps you feel as present as possible, especially in an online/video context? You're 100% at choice in what you share here. *
This space is an ongoing offering with zoom video practice sessions on Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 PM PST most weeks. Are you generally available during that time? *
***All solidarity spaces are currently accounted for. We are in a commitment to at least 1/3 BIPOC membership and uplifting trans femme membership. To this end, there are 4 solidarity spaces available each practice season at $150/month for BIPOC and trans femme folks. Would you like to request access to one of these spaces? If so, please briefly describe your class background and current class experience.
Bodies That Matter costs $275/month.  or $2,750 yearly. Payment is membership based. As long as you are enrolled, you will be charged monthly regardless of how many group practices are scheduled or how many you are able to attend live. We ask for an initial commitment of two practice seasons (6 months) because we find that embodied transformation takes time and commitment. This also allows for the deep relationship building that creates the ground for our practice. *
Required
We will gather for shared practice weekly. Once per month we will work asynchronously where there will be homework or practice to be done on your own or with a buddy. During these weeks we will not meet as a group. At least once per season, we will take a rest week where there will be no live practice or asynchronous work. We know that the body learns on repetition and on yes.  A commitment to regular practice outside of shared practices will support your transformation SO much. *
We meet by Zoom. Please download the app to your phone or computer prior to your first group date. You should be in a private and quiet place during our group to protect your own and other participants' confidentiality. Sometimes technology can be fraught! Please understand that group happens regardless of what is happening technologically. *
Bodies That Matter is an experiment in generating more embodied possibility for trans and nonbinary communities.  In the spirit of experimentation, our group may change shape and structure. Whatever change may happen will be in the principle of better alignment with my vision and needs, and the good of the group. *
B holds several healthcare related licenses, but they are not acting in that capacity within Bodies That Matter. This container is not a medical service. It is not therapy or counseling. Bodies That Matter is meant to be a space of somatic exploration and practice that creates room for trans and nonbinary folks to engage in embodied transformation toward what we care about. B is acting as a teacher and a guide. If need be, B is happy to discuss the differences with you in more detail. *
