Nominations for Latinx Artist Fellowship
USLAF is seeking nominations for an unrestricted award, the Latinx Artist Fellowship. The fellowship is supported by the Ford Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support annual cohorts of leading, multigenerational, and multiracial Latinx artists.

Fifteen artists will be selected by a jury of Latinx arts advocates, including curators and artists, to receive the no-strings-attached award of $50,000. Our goal is to have a final pool of nominees that reflects the breadth of the US and demonstrates  equity in terms of race, gender, age, class, disability, sexual preference and other aspects of identity. Please take all these factors into consideration when submitting your nominations.

Eligibility and Nomination Criteria
Please nominate an artist who fits the following eligibility criteria:

  • Identify as Latinx, which is an inclusive, gender non-binary term. We define Latinx/o/a as a person of any race, ethnicity and/or Latinx-identity affiliation who are of Latin American/Caribbean descent AND who are born in the United States or are long-term residents of the U.S. and its territories. We favor the broadest definition of Latinx, inclusive of: Afro-Latinx, Asian-Latinx, Chicanx, Cuban-American, Dominican-American, Hispanic, Indigenous, Mexican-American, Mestizx/a/o, Puerto Rican, etc.
  • Currently produce work in any discipline and/or medium in the visual arts, including painting, sculpture, photography, craft, textile and fiber arts, drawing, installation, printmaking, video, sound art, performance, and multimedia.
  • Over 21 years of age

Important Notes:
  • If you are a Latinx artist, you may self-nominate, in addition to nominating another artist. All other nominators may only submit one nomination.
  • Artist collectives are eligible for nomination, but will only receive one award.
We would like the final pool of nominees to reflect the breadth of the Latinx community in the United States and its territories as well as equitably be representative across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, age, class, disability, etc.
